Walking Tall 2: The Payback

I grew up with a father that idiolized the ideas that were put forward by one Buford Pusser. The kick your ass if you look at him wrong law man that walked through McNairy County, Tennessee with his cut of hickery stick he called the Buford Stick, I know the man's whole life inside and out, I know how he came to be, I know how he came to die. I know all about the truth of his life sung about in two different songs by The Drive By Truckers. I've seen the three movies from the 1970s and read the book.

With this, I was saddend when the "remake" came out in 2004, starring The Rock and Johnny Knoxville, I was, uncertain, and thought it was an alright movie, it didn't really do Buford, or more so the self depicted legend of his life, justice. Sure it had the same basic idea, but it wasn't the same. It was set in Washington State and was about a casino owner, instead of bootleggers. There was a 2x4 that was just a 2x4 instead of the famed taipered Buford Stick, the police headquaters were blown up instead of his home, and alot of other stuff was taken out of the story. Oh and it wasn't even about Buford Pusser. Even though the soundtrack had both "The Boys From Alabama" and "The Buford Stick" by The Drive By Truckers, both songs writen about Pusser and the walking tall movies.

So with the 2004 remake summing things up so well, I have to ask Walking Tall: The Payback.... WHAT THE FUCK YO?

Ok, lets look at this... The 2004 version of Walking Tall basically took a cleavelend Steamer on the old movies and the life and memories of Pusser, his wife and those that died helping them in their cause. It also gave a definate ending to the story. So, why is it, that we have a sequil to this? Infact, why is it even a sequil when it really has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the last one? This isn't The Crow, you can't make the same idea apply to random people and call it a sequil. I'm abit puzzled by someone thought it would be a good idea to do that, and more so, why in the hell is Kevin Sorbo starring in this? Seriously is all the Hercules and Andromeda gone? Does he really need to be on something like this? He doesn't even have a 2x4, so its just a muscle bound guy with a baseball bat out to avenge his father's death with a group of locals and an FBI Agent that just happens to investigate his father's death. I'm sorry I just don't buy it.

See, its movies like this that make me lose my faith in hollywood as a whole, all these bitch ass studio big wigs thinking they can just ram everything down our throats and we're gonna say "thank you please give us more". I'd rather be dead then live in a world like that. I used to like Kevin Sorbo, sure he got buy on his looks, but I don't are, he was funny and had great comedic timing, but now, he's just a muscle bound idiot with a baseball bat in a movie with no plot and no chance. No wonder when its released its gonna be direct to dvd.

Hmm.. I never heard that about Kevin being in the first one. I would however suggest that if you really wish to see the movie, rent it. I would have enjoyed it had it not been made as a sequil to the last one, had this just been a movie called "The Payback" it would have made sence.

I just can't see them making unrelated sequils with just the same title and plot (like The Crow, but done not so great).

oh and thank you so much for being my first comment ever :D

Well not a lot of people believed me but the info was passed down through a forum for him and many people had heard about it when they saw him at a convention at the time.

I am considering buyingit because I don't normally go to the video store anyway. :) If I don't like it I will give it to any of his fans online...

Your welcome too~
